Gobby does not implement undo/redo

Description

Gobby is a fanthastic editor, but it still lacks some major features to really be usable on a daily basis. The biggest thing which is missing IMHO is the ability to undo/redo what I write, this is needed especially when coding. An undo/redo that works just on what I've written would be the best, like asked on ticket #39, but even a really basic undo/redo feature would be ok for now. I would just like to see it the soonest the possible, without (obviously) pretending anything for your volunteer work (you've already made a truly kicking-ass app =). I just find it unusable to work without it.

We will either get it right or not at all. Chances are currently good to get it right, though.

Any idea on how that will be implemented? Btw, I'm probably going to write a KDE version of obby or a plugin that implements it for other programs (say kate for example), and if you can do it enough soon it would be perfect... else I'll have to implement it in the interface, which would suck.

This is a duplicate of #39, just like the reporter said.

You might be interested in http://arbur.net/serendipity/archives/30-Collaborative-Undo-done-right.html. It will not be developed for obby (or, at least I will not do that) but for its successor, called Infinote which uses a protocol on top of XMPP.
