I'm sorry, I really don't know much about proxies. I never needed to use one. What kind of proxy support would make sense here? SOCKS? Is there an easy way to test this functionality locally, once its implemented?

You can check different libarys how libproxy or others... and make it as dependence...

Please add SOCKS proxy support. It would make usage of gobby over TOR possible.
