open documents: file extension filter?

Description

It would be handy to have the possibility to have an extensionfilter in the Open Documents dialog.

For example *.tex to show only LaTex? files.

I'm not sure whether that is not too specific for a certain file type... there are a lot more plain text file types than LaTeX documents

Exactly, but it'd be nice if you could enter *.txt in order to filter or just sort by extension - that would be already quite helpful.
