Chat background filled with user colours

The background of lines in the chat box should be colour-coded with the colour of the user who wrote them.

This might get an option then, but what advantages do you see in doing this? Should the colourisation cover the whole line or just the text?

Preferably the whole line, so the following...

<mike> This is a test line

Would have it's background color coded.

I suppose either way (whole line or just the text) would work, as you get to know the users color scheme from editing files, but it really comes down to user preference.

As for the advantage, my friend and I take quick glances at the text box, and it would make it more noticable for us to detect new chat lines if it were color coded instead of all just black text.

Another feature which we just agreed would be useful would be timestamping in the chatbox.

Timestamps are already implemented (closed as #97 assigned to Gobby 0.3.0).
